Kids Count Center of Excellence
The aim of the Kidscount Centre of excellence is to focus on Youth and Community safety issues and provide young people with a voice and the chance to develop and positively influence their future.
lt offers training, development, evaluation and research programmes, including the creation of a "Laboratory of Best Practice" culled from the experience, contacts and knowledge of the partner organisations and their exposure to the issues that affect children and young people in our communities.
The training can be accredited, if required and can be also be delivered either on or off site.
The scope of the training and development modules include, Race/Diversity, Restorative Justice, Community Safety, as well as Client based programmes or individual tailored projects. This includes programmes targeted at life skills and the personal development of vulnerable young people. Many of these are designed in collaboration with experts in their field or by young people themselves.
The Centre of Excellence works on two levels and on the first is relevant to the Public and Voluntary sector, embracing community safety, youth work and youth development, education, housing and Policing.
These modules are of one day duration and the content, under the umbrella categorisation of Building Safer Communities, address "Engaging local communities" and "Tackling antisocial behaviour".
On the second level young people are promoting good citizenship amongst their peers for the public benefit, so that they may grow and mature to become responsible members of society equipped with life skills which will also help their future employability prospects.
They do this by informing, engaging, voicing, educating, developing and training young people.
