Key Facts

  • Kids Count is a think tank focused on the practical rather than the theoretical.
  • Kids Count will promote a co-ordinated range of successful, practical solutions in areas across the whole spectrum of problems faced by children and young people.
  • Kids Count will involve itself in issues such as gun and knife crime, gang crime, persistent and prolific offending, drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, education, discipline, bullying, abuse and fostering and adoption.
  • The Kids Count Panel of Experts will include eminent figures in areas such as drug abuse, alcoholism, bullying etc.
  • The Kids Count Youth Board will give practical advice and feedback to the Director, from the point of view of young people.
  • Kids Count has and will continue to find successful local projects in these areas and work with their founders to refine their ideas.
  • Kids Count will involve experts in our fields of interest and young people themselves to produce working solutions to their problems.
  • Kids Count will find and promote these successful projects through a network of “champions / advocates” that will include MP’s, local councillors, community workers / leaders, existing charities etc.
  • Kids Count’s activities will range across all sections of society, regardless of race, religion, culture, disability or socio-economic grouping.
  • Kids Count aims to have an interactive website that will provide a wealth of useful information and contacts for young people to deal with the many problems they face today.
  • Kids Count’s website aims to enable young people to be involved in on-line discussion groups, to help in these problem areas and learn from their experiences.
  • Kids Count is not, and will not be affiliated to any political party or charity, but has already established links with various political, social, charitable and voluntary organisations.
  • Kids Count project will NOT be driven by any ideology or dogma: our only concern is that the work we undertake has a practical and long term effect on the lives of young people in the UK.
  • The Kids Count Advisory Board will provide strategic advice to the Director.
  • Kids Count intends to gain funding from a range of corporations, philanthropists and other bodies.
