James Brokenshire
James Brokenshire MP is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hornchurch which he won at the 2005 General Election. He was promoted to the front-bench in November 2006 as a Shadow Home Affairs Minister. James had previously served as a member of the House of Commons Constitutional Affairs Select Committee.
In Parliament James introduced a private members bill proposing restrictions on the sale of lethal samurai swords which are now being taken forward by the Home Office. He has tackled Health Ministers on a range of shortcomings in patient care within the NHS and led a successful campaign to save a community hospital from closure.
Before entering politics, James was a partner at a large international law firm where he advised a range of companies, businesses and financial institutions on company law, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance deals.
James is married with three young children.
