Roger Gale

Roger has worked in the care sector for over 35 years, managing residential homes for people of all ages with learning disabilities / difficulties. He has worked in the field of education as Deputy Head of Business Developments promoting staff training in the care sector and delivering NVQs to meet national targets.

Currently working as Assistant Regional Director (Professional Development) for SENSE – (The National Deafblind & Rubella Association) – Roger has responsibility for the Independent Specialist College and is stated as the Principal by the Learning Skills Council. Roger works closely with colleagues in the organisation that provides care, education, training and social activities for people who are deafblind and who also have associated disabilities. Hre has responsibility for the staff development programme.

Registered with his wife, Roger is a foster parent working with children from Lincolnshire who have emotional and behavioural issues often caused by poor or no early parenting. In meetings and discussions Roger puts the child first and advocates strongly on their behalf so that they can obtain what is theirs by right and that which will enhance their lifestyle. Currently there is a 16 year old young lady placed with Roger and his wife and she has lived with them for over eight years. Previously there have been numerous young people living in the home, most having had early years trauma. They have now moved on to other successful placements.

Roger was awarded his MSc (Education & learning) from Lincoln University in 2003 following three years of part time study and a dissertation on deafblind issues.

Hobbies include DIY, travelling, reading, ICT and pastel drawing.
