Julia Kenkre was born and brought up in Birmingham. Prior to reading Medicine at Cambridge, she did a gap year doing voluntary work teaching English to primary school children in North West India. During her time at Cambridge she did an elective to Albania to look at child health and worked on a summer school project to encourage applications to Cambridge from more state school candidates. She is currently working in London as a doctor, spending part of her year researching into obesity. She is delighted to have the opportunity to be a member of the Kids Count Board and hopes to be able to support the youth board in its work to offer development opportunities to young people and in providing a platform for young people’s issues and views.
