Kids Count is working with young people, Think Drive Survive, a road safety program in Cheshire and leading charities to roll out this campaign.
Far too many young people are dying on our roads. Most of these are preventable.
The aim is simple. We aim to reduce the number of young people killed or seriously injured on our roads.
Our objectives are simple; it’s all about changing attitudes and raising awareness.
Objectives
• To create a movement of young people and a collaboration of organisations
• To reduce the number of young people dying and being seriously injured on the roads of the UK every day.
• To raise awareness of the risks present whilst using the roads in various situations and to promote responsible behaviour as the driver and or a passenger.
• To link behaviour and possible consequences for the wrong behaviours.
• To give students the confidence to behave appropriately when pressured to do otherwise, and to influence others when behaving inappropriately.
• To promote further training or instruction in an effort to help improve skills and knowledge.
• To promote safer driving and road use
• To reduce the cost of car insurance
Our Vision
We realise that no one organisation can achieve this on its own. The Campaign is grassroots driven and we are asking young people, youth organisations and families to back the campaign and help to promote safer driving and road use. Together we are stronger and can make a difference.
Death by driving
Most deaths on the road are preventable. Unlike serious illnesses which need major advances in science, massive financial investment and long term research many of the accidents on are roads are preventable.
Fatalities and serious injuries know no boundaries. There are no socio economic exclusions. Together we can make a difference.
We have to link action and consequence
.
There are two main reasons for accidents on our road
1. Mechanical failure.
With the advance of technology are cars are becoming safer to drive.
Regular maintenance can help reduce the number of accidents or deaths.
2. Driver error.
Most of these are preventable and Kids Count and our partners are going to focus on this.
