Amie grew up on a tough area surrounded by gangs. She suffered family break up and lived with her mother who has mental illness, drug and domestic abuse issues. Amie was bullied at school, picked on by gangs. She was referred to Kids Count by a community group and an existing board member. Kids Count helped to empower Amie to see her true potential, build her confidence, self esteem and life plan. Amie has gone on to helps others and to be the first person in her family to go to University and to achieve her potential. Amie is a confident, fulfilled young person who has gone on to mentor other young people to help them out of the trap.
